THE ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT ZONES

EAST DRAGON CONSULTANT GROUP is appointed as International-Agents and Representatives, for the China Economic and Technological Development Zones, it is the only non-Chinese agency, globally, to be granted this status. In the spring of 1984, based on the experience in building special economic regions, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council made the important decision to open 14 coastal cities to the outside world and to set up economic and technological development zones. As a result the state-level economic and technological development zones emerged in the coastal regions of China. With further development of the situation and the implementation of the strategy to develop Central and Western China and revitalize the old industrial bases of Northeast China, the state-level economic and technological development zones have been expanding from the coastal regions inland, which has contributed to the formation of an all-around and diversified pattern for opening and developing economy. At present, there are 49 the state-level economic and technological development zones and 5 industrial parks enjoying the policy for state-level economic and technological development zones, in all the provinces, autonomous regions and province-level cities, excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In the past 20 years, these state-level economic and technological development zones have contributed to a development policy of, "commitment to develop advanced technology with a focus on Industry, use of foreign investment, and forex-generating export" and been so hard working and aggressive that they have turned the past remote and backward places into modern industrial parks, where factories stand in great numbers, the economy and trade are prosperous with the economy and society developing harmoniously. Us a result the process of industrialization has been greatly sped up. These the state-level economic and technological development zones have become the fastest-developing regions of export orientated economy and advanced technology industries and are making the mounting of the dragon and great rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation possible.
